Years before the Siege of Ba Sing Se, General Iroh discovers a young girl among the remains of a decimated Water Tribe village. Raised in the heart of the Fire Nation, she grows close to the young crown prince and accompanies him and Iroh on their adventures. ________________________________________________________________________________ **This is an old story I had written in my head years ago when the series was still on Nickelodeon, and most of what I had originally written out was dialogue, so I apologize for any lack of detail or imagery-I don't have much time to devote to it as I'd like. I've read quite a few fanfic stories out there and this one isn't very good in comparison, but I'll post it for others who might find it entertaining--it was certainly entertaining to write. Also, I understand a lot of readers don't like stories that follow canon. This one does follow the show for the most part, but eventually digresses, follows, and digresses again. Disclaimer: I own nothing of the world of ATLA, although a few characters were seriously harmed (or killed) in the imagining of this fictional story.

Born with a true talent, the Southern Temple noticed her abilities. They had an "important" student on their hands, and now that this student's master was getting too old and frail to continue his lessons, they requested she taught the kid instead. She moved from home at 14 years old to live at the Southern Temple, and train the avatar himself. Life was great, she loved her student and enjoyed watching him grow. ~ Childhood best friends to strangers to enemies to lovers ~ Yah Ik. ☯ As Mai's younger sister, Virra often fell victim to the cruel games and tricks of Azula, Mai and Ty Lee growing up. So an alliance with Azula's older brother Zuko seems completely logical. With the years, Zuko and Virra became best friends, they were extremely close and spending all of their time together, right up until the moment Zuko was banished. It is an understatement to say that things ended on 'bad terms' so, when Virra sees Zuko for the first time in five years since he left, things don't go exactly to plan. Virra, a non-bender who is not only good at but enjoys holding grudges tries to find her way after she is left behind by Mai to join Azula's 'elite squad'. She needs to find her place in this story and plans to make good by joining team avatar to redeem herself from the horrible family and nation she comes from.
