Evie Autumn, like almost every other nineteen year old was just your average, unassuming, everyday girl. She attended university, she had that one quirk that everyone thinks is weird (an obsession with Greek mythology, in case you were wondering) and she had to stop herself from repeatedly smacking her best friend daily for his naycare, partying ways.
          
  Basically, her life couldn't be anymore normal if she tried.
          
  But then her normal world is shattered when that same best friend is killed right before her very eyes, and a mysterious stranger approaches her and introduces himself as Hades, God of the Underworld. Hades offers Evie a deal; he'll let her best friend live if she agrees to return with him to the Underworld as his very own modern-day Persephone.
          
  Suddenly Evie's thrust into a world where gods are real and life after death is all too possible; and to top it all off, she makes a deal to live with the devil for six months in exchange for her best friend's life.
          
  Life couldn't get any less normal, right?

Death is the old friend that nobody likes and yet you cannot live without. Death is many things but I never thought it would be my lover. Kore lives alone with her controlling mother, Demi. She hasn't seen any other person besides her homeschool teacher since she was a little girl after a mysterious incident happened at school one day that her mother refuses to talk to her about. She keeps her locked away on a farm and only lets her go out occasionally. It isn't until her cat dies and after picking him up, becomes alive again when she realizes why her mother has locked her away for all these years. She discovers she has the gift of healing. When she confronts her mother about it, her mother reveals to her that they are not human but in fact, Goddesses trapped inside human vessels to protect Kore from the Gods who want to marry her. But things only get worse when one day, as Kore is picking flowers in the meadow, there is an earthquake and she is taken up by this earthquake and falls into the arms of none other than Hades. Her best friend died (kind of ) and she found out that everyone she knew were immortal-walking-on-the-earth Greek gods. 2. She fell in love with the ruler of Hell (kind of) and agreed to become his new Queen. 3. She battled jealous sea gods and scary titans; a big fight which really, all could have been avoided with a big family therapy session. Yup, life sure was calmer than it had been in a while. Not that Evie missed the chaos or anything; she totally loved sitting around all day with the love of her life, alternating between telling people how to live their afterlives and telling Hades that he really needed to educate his Disney movie knowledge. But then that serene bubble was shattered when, once again, her life was maliciously twisted out of proportion right in front of her; and on her wedding day, no less. A few of her classmates also happen to represent the gods and goddesses from popular Greek myths, and the fact that all of them are present means that something monumental is about to happen. Hector and Autumn strike a bargain but the more Autumn gets to know the inhabitants of the Underworld, the further she gets from her all-too-human problems.
