Laika has always had an affinity for the sky, for the stars above. Now she is training to be the first dog in space, one huge accomplishment for dog-kind. She has many other friends, other dogs, almost all of them excited about the program. But Laika has doubts. She begins to wonder if they are really going to see the stars...and what on Earth happened to Bars and Lisichka? What are the humans so frantic about?
