Against a backdrop of political change in South Eastern Europe, the story embraces disgruntled communists, cold war warriors, intrigue, deception and finally murder. Sir Arthur Cumberpot has an unspectacular career which is swiftly drawn to a close when he is appointed British Ambassador to Bulgaria. Due to some unforeseen mishaps his wife Annabel is accused of being a spy and sent home to their house in Watlington while her background is checked by MI5. Annabel is guilty of nothing, other than being the biological daughter of Jim Kilbey, Britain's most famous spy. It seems that a jealous god has sought to visit the sins of the father upon her, but so has everyone else. She is the victim of serendipity, but also of cover ups, the duplication of thin evidence and exaggeration. But she is also heartless, treacherous, self indulgent and without shame.

This book tells the story of two university lovers who managed to still be in love with each other even after graduation. Stella got pregnant in her final year, but they fought hard and hid it until her graduation day. Her parents tried to separate them but damian tried so hard and proved to her father that he is a responsible young man. Damian got a scholarship to further up his masters in harvard university but he refused to go. This is because he feared leaving his pregnant girlfriend and unborn child behind. Through the intervention of stella's parents damian was forced to accept the scholarship; and prior to the birth of his daughter he left to London. By fate he met the only daughter of a chinese conglomerate whom after seeing his mind blowing proposal decided to introduce him to her father. Her father agreed to invest in his company and even introduced him to his rich friends. In no time damian started his company, and launched his software. While still at home stella discovered a shocking news; it turns out that her 5 years of daughter has been bathing with facial blindness (prosopagnosia). They can only get help abroad, but didn't have the money. She tried calling her baby daddy, but the call never went through.
