The government can enslave anyone they want, for any reason that they see fit. Reid's best friend Arielle was a victim of this. But the people soon grow tired of this, and start a war. Then the government soon forces people to join their side. Reid's Father is one of the people. He soon dies in and battle, and Reid's Mother has no choice but to sell him into slavery. After reuniting with Arielle, he decides that enough is enough: he's running away from his Master and going home.
