And another one fell. Making me laugh a cold, hard, desperate laugh. A pleading chuckle. To everyone else, it seemed like I was being a cold hearted machine. Which is what I am, what I've trained to be. Block out pain. Block out thoughts. Block out love. The three rules. The three laws of us. They are what defines us. The people like us, not the ordinary, innocent citizens we murder for disobedience. For ignoring the law. And we are the ones sent in to dispose of them. And there is no way out... And there never, ever will be... If only the citizens who hate us, saw the raw pain in our eyes every time we killed. Every time we killed. Every time.

Nocturne

(Clair de Lune book #3) "I am here to officially confirm the existence of beings beyond human limitations on this planet, and they are by no means friendly." It's been a while now, traveling across the country and taking down facilities left and right. It's like a game of dominoes, the more that topple, the louder the noise gets. We've made new friends and lost old ones, but most importantly, we're still standing strong and from the looks of it, we won't be backing down soon. I was blindsided though and the most powerful became the powerless; I was fighting a war no longer fit for me but I still had my family behind my back, supporting me with every bone in their aching bodies. We still had a fight to finish and there was another war I was waging with myself, that of blood and bonds I'd never thought I'd have to choose between. In the end, none of this matters unless we find the man who started this all. The man who stripped me of my dignity, my fame; I'd win this war even if it stole the last, dying breath from my lips. At least I'd go down fighting for what I knew was right.
