When The Daylight Comes- Short Story

Charlie knew he would have to give her up in the end. He knew when the sun comes up, he'll have to go. But tonight, he needs to hold her so close and hope for the best, hope for the impossible. He needs her, but she is leaving and he knew she was going to leave in the end but stupidly, inevitably, he had to fall in love. They had been meeting each other at night for a while, and she didn't try to seduce him, but her little quirks and flirts had drawn him in even closer as time went by. He won't be able to make her stay, for their friends, for him, even for herself. They both knew all too well that she needed to leave, and he needed her, and she was going to leave.
God, she was going to leave. No matter what. And in the end...

She left.
