Fifty different girls from fifty different places. Avianna Cristoff (Emma Stone) just happens to be one of the lucky girls chosen to compete for Prince Matthew Grayson's (Dave Franco) hand. She just has one problem; she has absolutely no interest in becoming the princess and future queen of Farview, or the wife of the seemingly stuck-up, spoiled young prince. She would prefer a laid back life, having a couple kids, a loving, down to earth husband, and staying completely out of the spotlight. But all of this changes when her name is drawn from the many thousands of girls in her region of the kingdom.
That very afternoon, she is collected and taken to King Sawyer's palace. She is put in an expensive looking room, rid of all her old clothes, and is required to wear elegant gowns- sometimes more than one each day for special events. And that whole out of the spotlight thing, well she can kiss that goodbye. She must participate in many televised interviews, activities, charities, and more.
She doesn't doubt for a second that she'll lose by a landslide, especially with so many beautiful, graceful, mannered girls competing. The only thing getting in the way of her plan to go home early is the prince himself. Matthew has taken quite an interest in the young, fiery girl, and doesn't plan on letting her go anytime soon.
Who knows, maybe Avianna is the perfect princess for the small kingdom of Farview. But then again, maybe she'll get sent home just like all of the others. Nobody can be sure, so for now, we just have to play the waiting game.
