It is now 2035. North and South America make up the Ahlakin Region (Sometimes referred to as Region 1). The Middle East and Africa became the Feldin Region (or Region 2). Australia made up the Vejik Region (Region 3). Humans are no longer sent into war; instead, the military has invented drones, one type being a FireFly, built to be a tiny, dangerously deadly helecopter. A second is almost like a toy car, except much more explosive, the EMV. The last drone is huge, almost like the robots NASA sent to Mars so many years ago, the LDR. The war between Region 1 and Region 2 has been going on for two years now, both regions losing equal amounts of drones. When Ahliaena was young, she was told of the legendary Gifted; people who upheld the power of the elements water, earth, fire, and air. But, for the most blessed, they became half animal (whatever their animal spirit is) half human, called the Animal Spirit. Ahliaena's life was simple, plain. Just like her friends and family. But, when she finds out that she is a Gifted, her whole life crumbles. She is forced to leave her family, friends, and community to be trained and cared for by other Gifted. When Ahliaena first settles into her bed for her first night with Gifted, she has a dream that a deep, dark evil will arise. Yet Ahliaena shakes it off. And then she meets Kolen, a Gifted who's been blessed with the Animal Spirit just like her. They both want to leave, but for different reasons. They both want to love each other, but for different reasons. When word gets around to the Gifted community about a new, dark, suspicious man named Mive moves into Ahliaena's community, all hell breaks lose. What does Mive have planned for Ahliaena's community? What will become of Ahliaena and Kolen? But, most importantly, what will become of Gifted and Ahliaena herself?
