"Why wouldn't I choose you?" Zack asked, staring me in the eye.
"I mean, look at me! I'm-"
"Beautiful? Hilarious? Damn near perfect?" He cut me off.
"No, Insecure, clumsy, and starting to break out." I returned.
"Well, we gotta be looking at two different people." He chuckled just a bit before getting up to walk away.
I sat on the bench at a loss for words. No one's ever told me anything close to that before, and I never expected for the first person to be some white boy I met at boot camp.

"Silly boy - you dare ask me that question?" I frown at him instantly - taken aback when he gripped my chin. Yanking me close enough towards him, our lips almost touched. The look in his eyes was one I've seen in wild animals who can't control their animalistic behaviors. Except this one was different...it held desire - which I wasn't for at all. That's when I push him back and got off of the couch. I saw him watching me with feral eyes that told me I probably angered him even more. Having him isn't my dream, my dream is helping my family - and being here does that. I could care less if he becomes Unhinged. I look out into the parking lot and squint to make sure I'm not going crazy. Walking up with a bouquet of flowers is Justin. He's wearing a muscle tee, and my eyes settle on the part of his tattoo that's not covered up by the plastic holding the flowers. When he reaches me, I feel my face heat up and before I can say anything, he hands me the yellow roses. "I think we need a do over, and I'm not letting you go. But um...here's to friendship until then. If you'll accept." He looks so flustered and unsure of himself as I eye the flowers but don't take them immediately. "Now, what weakness could that be-" I didn't even get to finish my sentence before a set of teeth sank into the sensitive flesh of my neck, sending an unexpected wave of pleasure through me. "W-wait, not there. Fine, fine. I'll be your friend. Just stop that shit." Zack paused, his breath hot against my skin as he chuckled. "That wasn't so hard, was it?" His tone was dripping with satisfaction, revelling in his perceived victory. He pulled back slightly, his eyes locked onto mine with a predatory glint. I tried to steady my breathing, my pulse racing from the conflicting sensations. "What is wrong with you?" I muttered, more to myself than to him. The fear and arousal mingled in a way that left me feeling disoriented and vulnerable.
