The first few chapters of Drop Dead Delilah.

The story of Luke -- your typical 17 year old teenage boy. Except that he was bullied relentlessly, was the outcast of his school and his family, and the loneliest boy in his small town. He meets Delilah, the new girl, and finally feels like there's another person out there that understands him. The two become close friends and Luke realizes that he's starting to fall in love with her. When he sees Delilah walking home from school he tries to catch up to her before she slips into the shortcut through the wooded park. Luke witnesses a group of boys he has never seen before follow her in and gets an uneasy feeling. He rushes to catch up but loses their trail. The next day, Delilah is gone. Days go by and there's no police, and nothing on the news. He goes to her house but it's completely empty. Weeks go by and no one mentions her or speaks her name.

It's like she never even existed.
