Leyna West, age 15, has tried as hard as she can, but simply can't do it. No matter how hard she practices or pours her heart into it, her music just doesn't seem to have enough 'soul'. It just isn't enough. In the the world she lives in, no one is safe...
For years, the land has been in a never-ending war, pitting each of the four nations against each other in hopes that one day, someone would win and peace would come. But for as long as Leyna can remember, the war just kept going on and on, until one day the leaders came to an agreement. To quench the constant warfare and allow the citizens some leeway, a musical competition would be held every year. The winner would grant their nation freedom from all the war until the next competition. The battle was on.
Leyna's home, Nation 4, has never won the competition. Heck, they've never gotten close. The judges always said it was because their songs had never touched their hearts. So how can Leyna, a random pianist from a random town, as well as her band mates Alec and Kyle, achieve such a thing?
Meanwhile, Seth Ankathi, 17, is tired of it all. He has the good life everyone wants, but ironically doesn't want it. Deep down he truly loves music and the beats he creates, but if everyone is only going to look at him as the general's son, why bother?
Nation 1 is deemed as too perfect, since they have all the money, all the glory, all the geniuses, etc. Nathaniel, the President's son, is perfect proof of that. But when Seth realizes amongst all the tacky elegance that is his home that sometimes, things can be too perfect, that's when everything begins to go down hill...
To create a song that will last more than just four beats, to hold out the competition as long as they can as to cover up their plots, to play out with their hearts and souls, to save the ones they love and care about...
All you need is a Fermata.
Aashna brushes off Mayank's hands but it's already back on her thighs, this time rising slowly under the hem of her skirt.
His cold fingers trace soft, small circles all over her warm skin. She fidgets on his touch, breathing through her words and trying her best to focus on the online meet.
Aashna clicks the mute icon.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?"she mumbles.
"Manifesting your score in the next Maths test."
"Sad you have to pull all this to get ahead of me."
"Yet you're the one who's already breathless in this race."He smirks looking at her face and with the heat rising up her cheeks she already knows what he would say next.
"Mon cherry <3"
