"The corpses line the streets on the frozen, frosted ground. Clouds of black flies blanket their rotting flesh. Their dead, glassy eyes stare at the swirling grey clouds above that started this all." Thomas Smith and Sam Prior have survived deadly plagues that struck the United States, starting with The Winter of 2059. More than half of the population is dead, their corpses lining the streets. Most of the remaining survivors are sick, infected with the disease the government unleashed on them to preserve food. Sam and Thomas, both immune to the disease, had taken refuge in a small hut in the woods. After that is destroyed, though, the only place they can think to go is D.C, 540 miles away. With the Roamers (infected) stalking around, tearing apart and burning the Immunes, this will be the most physically and emotionally demanding journey they have ever faced. Watching friends perish, reliving haunting memories of the deaths of family members, and battling the Roamers, how will they find the strength to continue on? [Disclaimer] : VERY VIOLENT. Not appropriate for younger readers. There are scenes where people hang themselves and commit suicide in front of the protagonist. There's also scenes where people are sadistically torn apart piece by piece beside our protagonist. Not recommended for those 14 years or younger. Yes, there's abuse in here. Physical, and emotional abuse are present and brought up often. If this makes you uncomfortable I would not suggest you begin reading. {chapters may be long as they each take up at least 15 written notebook pages}

They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain. They turned me into something, that neither do they know what I am. Their afraid of me, of my reflexes, my strength. I killed a lot of them. They say I have a cold heart, that I don't feel nothing. That's why they call me: Death -----------------------------------------************************************--------------------------------------------- Death.
