But after being in the presence of babies in their lives (Barney's nephew, Eli, Lily and Marshall's kids, Marvin, Daisy and Courteney, and Ted's kids, Penny and Luke) Robin and Barney start to have a change of heart. They are devastated when they learn that Robin cannot conceive. There are many alternatives, but Robin has really high hopes of carrying a child. Eventually as a result of going through IVF treatment, she and Barney discover they are expecting a baby.
