Burdened (Short Story)
I was 16 years old when I found out that it was possible. I was living in an apartment with my boyfriend at that time. He and I took our high school classes online together. I met him when we were 14, just being dumb and clueless. I didn't know that I'll be his girlfriend at the age of 15 or that I was going to live on my own when I'm 16. I was just in my curious 14 year old body trying to get over my new monthly bleeding schedule. He and I wanted to become actors as a career, so we took college classes as well. At age 16, I worked 2 jobs at the mall and he was fixing cars at his father's garage shop. We were happy and in love. During our 16th year of age, we decided to do the big IT. It was amazing since we both took each others' virginity and luckily knew how to use condoms. It was impossible to stop. We did it non-stop, but that ended quickly when I stepped out of the bathroom with tears in my eyes. I was pregnant with Matthew Connor's baby. And I wasn't ready. Have you ever had that moment, when you thought life was normal? You and your family were happy but in the next moment. It turns into Hell! That's how my day went when my family died in front of me. We were on our ship and I had played a prank on one of the crew members. My father disciplined me, and I was stuck in my room. The next moment, our ship was stuck in the middle of a sea storm. The ship was heading straight into a sea of rocks, and the mast was on fire. My father, yelled, "Get off the ship! Clara, Run!" That's what I did. But now I am stuck on this land, mystery coursing through it. I was stuck, and I had no one to help me. I was now on my own. An 18-year-old girl, named Clara. Was now stuck. Until I found him, and I don't how but I did. He saved me from these creatures. And now we are stuck on this island together. We both have to some how to survive all of these things on this island. I never believed it would end like this. I was just watching Netflix when the power went out, then before I knew it everyone was screaming, then the school began to shake and fell to the ground. Only three kids in my entire school were spared, four if you count me. I found a group of people heading to the east coast for a boat trip to a supposed safe haven in India.
