Joey is 17 and is in his senior phase in high school. He has always tried hard, despite his learning disability, dyslexia. His alcoholic mom isn't much help with his motivation, and relies on himself. He has great friends, although they aren't enough to keep him going throughout one of the hardest school years he's ever experienced.
Soon enough, the pressure becomes too much and Joey turns to alcohol and drugs to escape, which reveals a daunting dark side to him. His boyfriend, Daniel, wants to help Joey get better, but it's just not enough.
