The lunitis are a superior race created by the gods to help grant the wishes of humans. Each lunit is given a necklace whose pendant is filled with rootgut, a blue substance that allows them to overwrite the past or manipulate the future to be able to grant theses wishes. When the rootgut reaches a low point, the head lunit decides whether the lunit is worthy of refilling the pendant or not. Each lunit's eye color changes depending on their personality.
Scarlett Waymire has spent seventeen years of her life blindly serving the head lunit only to ruin it all by reading a folder she wasn't supposed to find. After finding out the shocking truth about her society, she is kicked out of her society and forced to join the other rejects, called the reprobates. They had already noticed that something was up, and the information she had was the final puzzle piece.
