Carmen Arbia, Flynn Hood, and Jackson Breeze.

The three best friends of the town of Autumn Vale that had stuck with each other through elementary, middle, and now a whole two years of high school. They plan every summer out down to the last day; from the places they are going to go, down to the people they want and expect to see and meet.

Maybe Jackson's family keeping their road trip this summer a secret with destiny's way of saying that not all things last forever.

It not like the three would never be united again; they would all see each other back at high school once the year started. But a whole summer without Jackson could change the trio. Maybe in a way that's good, maybe in a way that's bad.

Now that Carmen and Flynn are alone in this thing together, what will happen?

Will sparks fly or will arguments ensue daily?

All they know is that they don't want this to be just a boring summer.

So they're going to fix it.

Not So Hot Girls Summer follows three best friends on the last of their summer holidays before starting in their careers. Amelie, Maddie and Frankie have been friends since they were children and now they have graduated from university, they are ready for their final weeks of freedom, this year with celebrations taking place in Bali. But all is not as glamorous as social media portrays. Each of the girls are complicated and with each of them keeping their issues under wraps, they begin to build their own warped perceptions on one another (don't worry, the omniscient narrator reveals all). Amelie is a relatable character for many millennials. She suffers from social anxiety, fearing awkward situations and questioning everyone's intentions. From her perspective, she already believes that she will be left behind after summer, with Maddie and Frankie phasing her out. But she's wrong. The narrative she has built in her own mind is nothing far from the truth. Maddie does care. In fact, Maddie cares more than anyone. She is the only one to have organised anything to ensure they have the most memorable last few weeks before entering the working world, even when she is secretively dealing with her own issues. It is Frankie that can't be trusted. She is the lost soul of the group who has adopted a mentality of no longer caring. Whilst some may view her carefree perspective as admirable, it is this outlook that is leading her to dangerous waters. But with each of the girls personally dealing with their struggles, it doesn't take long before the holiday turns into emotional chaos, especially when boys become involved. Amelie

You've heard this story before. It's a tale of predictability, unoriginality, and clichés. Set in Huntington Bay, our story follows Carmen, a sixteen-year-old high school student with an epic bicycle kick. Carmen currently lay in limbo with a perverted boss and a cheating ex-boyfriend and could not talk to her so-called best friend; she was having a typical teenage meltdown. She wants to find a way to turn her fake smiles into something tangible. As Carmen's anxiety attacks begin to emerge once more, she finds herself seeking comfort in her brother's best friend. Sebastian was a wannabe surfer with more family issues than he would admit. With a million-dollar smile and arrogant streak, he didn't let anything phase him. Summer is the time for new beginnings, new opportunities, and new adventures. Nevertheless, there is nothing worse for hormones and better for the heart than the right boy at the right time.
