Compared to the glamorized reputation given to assassins, Grace Romanov can safely say that it's a very far stretch between reality and our Hollywood fantasy. When Grace Misty Firewinter was little, around six, her mother died and her father became a very wealthy scientist because he came up with a biological mutant chemical. When she was eleven, she was exploring her father's lab and spilled some of the chemical and inhaled it. It made her into a genetically modified mutant. She is able to access 25% of her brain, element control and Grace has Combat Enhancement. She told her father but like always, he didn't care. When she was 12 he sent her off to an elite boarding school. Grace was trained as an assassin by a man named Mr. E. He trained her in archery, knife skills, and acrobatics. She was supposed to go into the MI-five in London but she dropped out of school. Grace's father was furious but he had to allow her to stay. He ignored her until she was 14. One day while visiting him at his labs they got into an argument over a pencil. She ran away upset and the next thing you knew her father was on the ground, bleeding. Someone killed him. But they weren't aiming for him. They wanted to kill Grace. She went on the run. She withdrew all the money he left her and backpacked around New York for a couple months until she bought an apartment. When Grace was 15, credited with over 32 kills, she was targeted at the apartment so she took her back packing to the sewers and now lives a double live as Grace Firewinter and the superhero Raphael.

Carina Romanov is a 27 year old business woman. Her Russian parents, Boris and Nadia Romanov, adopted her when she was 5 from an orphanage in New York. Ever since then she has called Brighton Beach her home. She had seen and heard many things through the years but what made Carina a favorite was the fact that she was loyal and trustworthy. She never revealed any of what she'd been privy to. When her parents decided to retire she took over Romanov's, their restaurant, remodeled it and made it an even more popular spot among the locals, especially anyone in organized crime. When Carina was 10 her mother told her that she would be betrothed to someone in Russia. Dimitri Alexandrov. Their families had been connected for many years and because Carina had been in this type of life for years it was not a shock to her. For 17 years she would get letters, phone calls and sometimes packages from Dimitri but she'd never met the man. She was always told that one day he would just show up and her new life would begin...but until then she would have to settle for images that the sound of his voice would invoke, learn to trust him to keep her safe and forgive those closest to her for keeping her in the dark regarding her adoption. She would soon be in danger from things she didn't even know about, from people she didn't even know and a biological father who wanted her dead. *All characters are purely fictional.

Put together a man with a bounty on his head, a woman with too much to lose, throw in a healthy dose of trauma, teenagers, toddlers, sharing a bed with a stranger and you're bound to have a royal mess. Let's not forget the most important part, they can't fall for each other because that just takes the stakes up, you don't just wake up and get attracted to an assassin so you can be used as mafia bait, basically destined not to work.
