Wendy Rundlett is done with life. She hates the thought of having to get up in the morning and going to face the unforgiving voices and glares of her classmates. She cringes when thinking of coming home, to see parents who don't notice her and the shadow of her younger sister. But she loves the thought of going into the music room at school, singing softly and plucking nervously on the piano. Wendy loves music, as it's the one thing that has never let her down. Then one day, a new girl moves in next door. Petra Koten, the bright straight A music wonder student. Wendy finds herself drawn to Petra, lost in her eclectic energy and dreamy attitude. When Wendy catches Petra singing in the music room, strumming to her guitar, she thinks she's found someone whom she can trust, she can be friends with. And maybe, she's found something more.
