Saved by the Captain of the Royal Guard when she was a toddler, Kava only knew one thing: how to fight. She's been fighting her whole life whether it be unruly recruits, being best friends with the prince, or her elf lover who just came back from a family vacation.

Then if anything could get any better, her adoptive father declares her as his heir to his position as Captain of the Royal Guard and she starts training practically immediately. The Royal Court doesn't seem too impressed and decides to see if she's actually got potential.

Her mission is to find the pirates that burned down her village and killed her family before the annual Masquerade Ball. However, her long lost brother and the king might complicate things.

With this new information, will Kava be able to overcome her demons and figure herself out?

"I only have one request if you're going to keep me in suspense all day long." "What's that?" The movement of her lips drew his eyes down. "Let me kiss you again?" That voice, breathy and low, set Taly's heart racing. His lips twitched at the corners-he could hear it. Now that he could use his magic, he knew exactly the kind of effect he was having on her. Pallu, at seventeen, is exhausted from training as a warrior and as one of the Queen's elite White Guard, a group of telekinetics who protect the kingdom from evil mages. Already, she has traveled and battled more than most grown men. What she needs is a holiday, but naturally that holiday can't go without the king's being assassinated, her father nearly dying, her own life being threatened, and oh, she can suddenly hear a voice in her head. So much for holidays. Pallu returns home to meet this voice who turns out to be Rumah, a young woman who shares an uncanny resemblance to Pallu. Together these new friends must fight to save their kingdom from the chaos and destruction of traitorous mages. But at what cost? ***I've finally gotten all the chapters loaded! I hope you enjoy!*** As of 7/12/2020, I've updated/revised chapters 3 & 4. As always, I covet your comments. This is one of my older novels (over ten years old) that I stumbled across and wanted to share.
