Liam Chenault, the head of security at the United Nations, has built himself a clone army using DNA from the remains of the great warriors of the battle of Troy. If the UN Peace Treaty passes-which requires that all the governments of the world will give up the use of their lethal weapons-these Peacekeepers will ensure that the population of the world is protected from the rebels they know will arise. What Liam's not counting on is trouble from the one warrior who should be his star-Reni, the clone of Achilles.
Reni was raised in a non-violent home, but she struggles daily to stamp down the violent tendencies inflamed inside her. When she meets Alexander-a clone of Hektor-he shows her how to control it, how to let go of the aggression broiling deep within her. And she shows Alexander how to feel-something that they're both taught not to do.
When Reni becomes suspicious of Liam's motives, her only choice is to Defect, deserting the ranks of clones and seeking out the one person who has more answers-Dr. Forsythe, Liam's sworn enemy. Anyone who Defects must be killed-and the responsibility to hunt down Reni falls to Alexander. Will he follow orders and stay the course for world peace? Or will he follow his heart, and help Reni set out to prove that world peace is just an illusion?
