Book 1: After 8 years of being held hostage, 15 year old, Madison Smith and her family finally escapes with help from a large group of survivers. The group is big but she notices one person in particular. A boy. Around her age, with blue eyes and a distinguishable hat. These people aren't like the those she remembers as a little girl. They're different.
When she escapes, these survivors tell her that life isn't how she remembers. She learns that everyone she knew is dead, but these monsters, walkers the group called them, weren't just dead, they walked, they search around for something to feed on. Us. They look for anything living to feed from. If they get near you, you're in trouble. If they scratch you, you die. If they bite you, you die.
"We're screwed. All we can do now is survive."

The End Has Come but I'm Still Here
They say the world is over, but I'm still here. If it's the end of days then why are people still alive, maybe the world isn't over perhaps they just have to learn how to survive in this new world. For Lexi Grimes that is a lot easier said than done. Her father was shot a week before the dead began to rise. Now Lexi has to be strong for her little brother Carl and their mother, Lori. Lexi was the one that got her brother and mom packed and ready to leave. While her mom was grabbing family albums and her brother was grabbing comic books, Lexi grabbed her Springfield Sniper, extra ammo, and her silencer. As well as any food that would last a while. She was already pulling out of the driveway to go get her father when Shane came in behind them, driving like a bat out of hell. Shane told them that Rick was dead, and he came to get them to safety, but Lexi didn't want to believe him. Shane had to physically stop Lexi from getting back in their car and driving to the hospital. The only thing that truly stopped her though was the look on her little brother's face, he needed her now more than ever. Slowly as time goes on she discovers parts of herself she didn't know were even there.
