It all started with the establishment of the Atheist Party. They took over the world through politics and banned history and art. Their belief was that all religion must be wiped out if the human race can be able to evolve, and they have started with a mass genocide of Christians. All around the world, about 75 of our Christian brothers and sisters are martyred for Jesus Christ at the end of every day, but there is hope. Camp Byzantine, a Christian resistance movement that protests against the Government, is a haven for the persecuted of any religion, and the anchor of my hope.

Who am I? I am Tamar Redwood, a Hidden Christian along with my sister, Esther, and our Guide, David James. Our parents, Decorah and John, were martyred for our faith, and what happened that week and the following weeks are imprinted within my mind. This is my story.

This story began as a NaNoWriMo 2012 work, with no planning, and even less idea of plot. I learned from that experience that I am not a 'pantser' -and spent about 20 painful months trying to turn my stream-of-consciousness 3-stories-in-one into one coherent novel, following the timeline and events in the Book of Genesis. I discovered that that is not a great way to build a plot. I ended after 5 more drafts, at about 60k words. There is another draft on my blog, slightly longer, a bit more experimental. I was moved to write this story in an effort to educate people about God, His laws and how it caused me to separate myself from a religion I practiced for nearly 40 years. I also hope to inspire others to gain an interest and perhaps, as I have obtained, a passion for studying Biblical Hebrew. I will also uncover a centuries old conspiracy to conceal the actual name of God! Another purpose is to dispel some myths that people that leave The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leave for only two reasons; they have lost faith, or they have been offended by someone. This is not the case with me, and I believe there is a growing number of people who have left for similar reasons. I want to be clear, my intent is not to destroy the church. I do not have any animosity towards the church nor the leaders or members. I acknowledge many members and leaders of the church are truly dedicated to living the gospel the best they know how. I also have great empathy for current members of the church as just a few years ago, I was a devout member of the church myself!

My younger brother and sister cry for our parents on the other side of the world. The only consolation I have is "Christmas is coming." With the year coming to a close, I want to dedicate this story to the front-liners, to those living away from family, to the Filipinos affected by the recent typhoons and flood, and to my grandparents who have survived through so much and thrived through it all. Christmas time is the time to be reminded of HOPE, the hope that comes in Jesus' promised birth and life to live, PEACE, the peace that comes from the Prince of Peace alone, JOY, the joy that comes from a fresh start, a new beginning and the birth of a baby (Luke 2:5-7) and LOVE, the love that sent a King down on earth to be a baby so that He could experience life before He'd give His life for us so that we could live with Him (John 3:16) (Not edited.
