The Kira case is ongoing and after the murder of Ukita, the Task Force is left short-handed. After days of the Task Force telling L that they need somebody else, L takes the liberty of hand-picking one himself. That's when he finds Kyara Mosi. Academic-wise, she is above average, but not outstanding. What pulls L towards her is her ability to read and define emotions, something that L himself is not too good at. He hopes the she will fix his weakness, but she might just become his new weakness.

College life is the next step in my life. After college I want to join the police force, work under cases and such. Kira is still going around, killing people, now starting to kill innocent people. Then, the person who I'm forced to sit with talks to me again... Light.. But I know that knowing Light... Makes me feel uneasy. Especially ever since I passed notes with him in high school. Ever since then, I saw something by his side at all times, a shinigami... Shinigami.. Gods of death... Then there's a notebook I noticed that Light had.. Death note... I think Light is Kira.. But then I meet L, a member of the group who's working on the Kira case, the best detective in Japan, the one person who hides his identity.... Can I tell him..? Can I trust him...? He seems to trust me enough to tell me that he's L. But there are a few things stuck in my head... Why did he offer me to help him? Why does he want me to help at all?
