The Amber Mage

"A mage?" I asked, confused by what he meant.

He sighed, "Yes. A mage."

My head started to whirl as I let this information sink in. "You mean as in magic doers?"

He looked away and nodded his head, "Yep. Listen-"

He was abruptly cut off by my hysterical laughter.

"Oh... My.. God!" I said through giggles "A Mage! HA! Lord, I must've hit my head really hard in that crash!"

He snapped his head in my direction and grabbed my hand. "I'm serious. Being a mage is dangerous. This is no laughing matter."

I started to calm down, but when he said that word, 'mage' again... I just couldn't help myself. I sounded like a dying hyena.

He abruptly stood up and glared at me.
"Would you like me to prove it?" He said in a challenging tone.

"Sure, you do that." I wheezed, clutching my stomach. "I can't believe you're an actor! Your lies are down right terrible!" I added hastily.

He ignored me and picked up a large rock. Aiming it in my direction, he got ready to throw it.

My laughing had finally stopped and I was getting nervous. "Wh-what are you d-doing?" I stuttered, feeling a burning sensation on my chest and looked down to see my fire opal necklace glowing.

By the time I looked up, I saw the stone zooming towards me. I put my arms up in defense mode, but I knew it wasn't going to help.

But I didn't feel the rock hit my head, instead I saw a blinding light and the rock floating in front of me.

He smirked triumphantly, "See?"

I didn't respond, only fainted. For the third time that day.
