The past-
A plague struck the earth in the year 2031, wiping out 15% of the population. Soon after a cure was found, people that would die would rise up again with amazing powers. The world showed only fear in the face of these new people, and the government created a new branch of military to combat these resurrected.
The present-
Veronica Ramirez has been on the run for a long time. With the government after her, no friends or family anywhere, and no place to go, she's running out of options and time. So what happens one night when she's almost captured and is saved by a mysterious man, clad in black? And what does he have to do with the infamous anti-government terrorists, The Death Corp? It's blood, feathers, and a little bit of love as Veronica is led into a new life to escape her old one, taken in by the hands of death, and taught to fly through the darkness into the light.

The government has a secret, they are the cause of the apocalypse of the dead. They wanted a weapon, something that no one would be able to beat. They created a virus, one that wakes the dead, that creates more like them. But it went wrong. It kills women, and those women infect others. They've found no women that can get past it. She learns of what the government did and that they are looking for her, and she runs, trying to keep her and her friends alive. But there's only so much one girl can do. Will she find somewhere safe to hide from the government? Or will the government finally catch her? Will she fall to the world of the undead? Will her love survive the apocalypse? Or will she lose everything in her journey to survive? At first I thought I'd pick something a bit out of my comfort zone (so.... NOT SciFi for once...) to expand my horizon, but when I saw a prompt about time travel I was immediately inspired. I have an outline and I worked hard to come up with a compelling and consistent story line, but due to the nature of the story (timey whimey stuff!) Time didn't matter to her. She got up when the sun did and tried to sleep when the sun went down. because of this seemingly endlessness, she's forgotten her name, she's forgotten her family and she's forgotten everything she use to be. Now she was nothing. Living on the streets of a town begging for money and food from travellers that didn't know who she was, unlike the rest of the town that thought of her as something unnatural even though she doesn't know why. Constantly abused by the townspeople who don't understand her, she is left to die in an alleyway after a horrible run in with three drunk men. She was expecting to die and have her corpse eaten by rats and other vermin. What she didn't expect was to be saved by a woman that was everything but human. "Do you want to live?" This woman asked and when she looked into herself she knew the answer, it came easy through her busted lips. "Yes." From that day on she became something else, something not human, something extraordinary and from that day forth she will serve this woman who saved her life and maybe one day remember her name or be given one by her new Mistress. Maybe one day she'll remember who she was and maybe she'll even find the one person that completes her soul. From that day forth she became a Nightwalker. Completed. But when the schools bad boy admits he wants her she doesn't know what to do. It was a Sunday night, family night for the Greens. They were playing a board game when it happened. At exactly 11:11 pm; a time for wishes, a sixteen year old girl wished for true love one day. At that exact moment her window smashed and something flew into her room. It was a flock of them; they attracted the house and only took one thing: the girl. She remembers it clearly, the way she screamed scared out of her mind. The way it grabbed her waist and took off. She remembers screaming for help but no one came to her rescue. Oh how she wishes that she left her safety knife in her room. Then they would be safe. Her family! She just hopes they were fine, but the conclusion that she was taken says that her family would be back to normal soon. She sighs and thinks over her life. From a little kid she was always the loner. But her family loved her to death. It all changed when she turned ten. The world was changing. She remembers the exact day at the exact time. Her birthday; she calls it the hell day.
