Historian Emilie Crosse dreamed of a love that would last forever

Who knew she'd have to sail across two centuries to find it?

When her ex-husband Zane Grey Rutledge shows up at her door with a Revolutionary War uniform that was part of his grandmother's estate, neither one suspects that their lives are about to change in ways they can't possibly imagine.

Swept back in time to 1776 where a nation is struggling to be born, Emilie finds herself torn between two men: Zane, her ex ,who still holds the key to her heart, and Andrew McVie, the Patriot hero of her long-ago dreams . . . .

"How did you concoct that absurd tale in a blink of an eye?" Zane asked, one brow arched in amused disbelief. She huffed. "You should be grateful, I think quickly." "Oh, I am," he murmured. "But perhaps next time, a backstory wherein I retain a modicum of dignity?" Aurora smirked. "And rob myself of the entertainment? Where's the fun in that?" Zane shook his head, but his fingers lingered a fraction longer before he released her hand. "I hadn't realised amusement ranked so highly among your values." She narrowed her eyes. "You are growing rather bold, considering I just saved your life." Zane, entirely undeterred, tilted his head with an infuriating smile. "Ah, but my dearest", he murmured, stepping closer, "perhaps you saved me because you cannot bear to be without me." She responded with all the grace and dignity of a woman at her wit's end-by clamping a hand over his face and shoving him away with such force that he staggered back, laughter spilling from his lips. "Gah! You are intolerable!" Aurora exhaled sharply, straightening her sleeves as though the mere act of touching him had somehow wrinkled them. *************************** Bound by duty. Shackled by honour. Tormented by feeling. Aurora lives a life shaped by steel and sacrifice. As a knight sworn to her realm, she's loyal, lethal, and alone-unshaken in battle, but increasingly undone in his presence. Zane is a problem: disciplined yet reckless, distant yet always too close. He never asks, never reveals-yet somehow sees straight through her. When a mission draws them deep into peril, forced side by side, what once was teasing sharpens into tension. In stolen glances and moonlit silence, desire simmers beneath duty, and silence becomes the loudest agony of all. As truths unravel and enemies close in, the real question isn't whether they can trust each other... It's whether they can afford not to. Written: March 2025- Ongoing

"You guys aren't going to budge on this, are you? You- you don't even have a proper boat, there's none of the cannons or anything. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, it's hard breaking laws after so many years of running a benevolent kingdom. You guys know about where the empires are, and free trade agreements, and the structural integrity of certain buildings, not whatever it is you're planning." "So what?" Joel said, seemingly taking on the brunt of this debate. "We can, I dunno, steal treasure from the abandoned empires. We know where all their stuff is anyway, so hah, take that-" There was a pause. A realization shared among all three in the conversation, if you will. Not quite a lull, per se-this is something that would be marked in a script, that would be etched into history, that would seal their fates in aptly said teasing words. "Joel," began Lizzie, "Did you just come up with a near-flawless plan to become pirates?" He seemed to consider this. Looked to Jimmy, offered him a shit-eating grin. "Sorry, lad. I think you just led us right to a solution." - OR; Joel & Lizzie decide that they're best suited for a life at sea. An old friend from years past (it's only been a month or two) makes a treacherous deal with forces he doesn't understand. From their graves, ghosts of past empires arise. When present grudges and future feuds stir the pot, will our valiant heroes make it out alive? Oh, and also... there are hot women. Lots of them. Trust me. - hi all! this is essentially a sequel to High Tide, another book I have in my library- this is set to be a bit more epic though, I have a notebook's worth of planning! if you've not read it, this will make very little sense. still, welcome!

Aldrick is obsessed with finding his grandfather's treasure. More than half a century and seventeen voyages have failed to locate his ships after they wrecked in Windward Passage, deeply-laden with pirate plunder and homeward-bound from the Caribbean in 1679. Elizabeth, the firstborn of Baron Leigh, was raised in Warwickshire, about as far from the sea as is possible in Britain. Recently betrothed to Aldrick, she doesn't want him to sail out of her life. First Place Winner in Round One and Shortlisted in the Open Novella Contest 2019 and now expanded into a full-length novel.
