Skylar Mendell is a 19 year old girl born and raised in Gilbert Arizona. Growing up, she always had a good childhood. Everything took a turn for the worse at the age of 15 when she thought she fell in love with her boyfriend Carter Oakley. She had lost her mom and dad to a battle against illness and was secluded from the rest of her distant family. So when Carter came along she thought she found her rock. However, he is a very controling, abusive and demanding man as Skylar later finds out, and announces he shall force her into marriage. The night of that announcment, she packs her bags and leaves. Hopping on a train headed one way to Omaha Nebraska, Skylar sets out to have a new life of her own. She meetes a farmer there that changes her life completley, and becomes close with his tough skinned World War Two veteran grandfather. Will Skylar successfully escape her past life? Or will it come back to haunt her?
