When sports teacher Pamela has to move from the U.S. to Germany because of her husband’s job she finds herself going crazy with loneliness.
Comfort is at hand when an accidental meeting with Jill, an expat from the UK, introduces her to a church women’s home group and finds new friends.
The women grow closer as they realize that they share the same problems: the kids have integrated into the new lifestyle and culture; the husbands are constantly busy, leaving their wives frustrated.
Independently, each finds solace on an internet chat site: "The Notorious Expat Wives”, where they are exposed to new temptations.
When an elderly member in their circle dies, and the group leader has to leave Germany, the women decide to seek their husbands' attention in more dramatic ways, but with disastrous consequences.
What do the royal bed of King Ludwig the Mad, a gargoyle at the Cologne Cathedral, and a pitch invasion at a football match have in common?
A domino effect of copy cat crimes begins and the police all over Germany now fear a different type of “Notorious Expat Wives”!

Penny and George have embarked on a new life; not only as man and wife (both second timers) but in a new country. When their business goes to the wall they have to make difficult decisions about their retirement plans for moving to Italy where they had invested in an old crumbling property. After much hair pulling, wine drinking and discussions with their trusted friends, Daphne and Roger, they decide to move, lock stock and barrel. The stories are a humorous take on the issues of moving abroad with very little in the back pocket as well as the everyday complications of another language, culture and systems. Penny and George bumble along knocking into the odd expat here and there, collecting a family of stray animals and trying hard to cultivate green fingers to keep the wolf from the door.
