Emilie Moon is a young, shy teenage girl who lost her parents in avalanche, an avalanche she cased when sudden supersonic waves came from her moth. Buried underneath the freezing snow, Emilie was on the verge of death before she was finally pulled from the snow. Waking in the hospital with a man and a woman standing by her bedside, Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Dinah Lance (Black Canary). It was after that day that Emilie became the protege to Dinah Lance and took on the name Kid Canary, and picked up a few archery lessons from Oliver.
    
Emilie picked up quickly and when the real Roy Harper returns after spending eight years on ice because of Lex Luthor and Cadmus, she feels she needs to keep an eye on him. It's through this that the two start to get close and Roy gets to see that it's not all about getting revenge on the person who ruined your life and took your arm.
