Two months after Tris' death is when the story takes place. Tobias and all of Tris' friends have dealt with her passing and have now learnt to live without her.

Meanwhile, Caleb is wrapped up in his own guilt. He feels that he's responsible for the death of his sister and he can't cope being without her. So, to try and fix himself he begins to create a new and miraculous serum that soon becomes the Revival Serum.
Tobias and Tris' relationship isn't how they left it, it's broken while everyone else's isn't. They are forced to deal with problems that the thought were solved.

Tris' memory is spared due to her divergence but no one knows. She will have to escape the city with the ones she loves in order to create a lasting future for her and her child. The basic plot of Divergent, Tris transferring to Dauntless and her and Four falling in love are still happening, but in different order and with my own twist to it. Like many fanfics, the war doesn't happen in this, but many twists, dangers and people from the past try to stop Fourtris's happiness. In his grief, he attempts to take the memory serum in order to wipe away his pain, Tris's best friend stops him. A year passes as Tobias develops a close friendship with Christina, she then pushes him to move on from his grief, to live his life and just move forward. They begin a romantic relationship.
