You see, everything comes to an end sooner or later. Nature.. Humanity.. You may still be here, but in reality, you're not. You're not on your once healthy planet, no. What you're on is dead and still dying. You may think that not being infected by sickness would be a good thing. But it's not.. You have to watch your family slowly die, and turn into something.. different. And there's nothing you can do to help.. And what's even worse, you have to be the one to end them. It's either the sick, or you. What keeps us going? Why continue to live like this? It's that little spark of hope.. Hope That there is something out there that can help. We will search. And we, the Immune, will find that something.

It started with the melting of the Poles, which uncovered diseases that hadn't been seen in millennia. Obviously, when a flesh-eating parasitical virus was found, scientists in all their glory decided to study it, which led to the greatest calamity in human history. Warning: This is the original book 1, it is now considered more of a prelude/building character relationships arc than a book. This provides backstory and sets the foundation for the characters and their relationships. Infection
It starts with a simple itch, nothing more. Maybe a few random spasms or the occasional shudder but you'll think nothing of it. Then you'll get blood shot eyes... Not enough sleep? It gets worse, much worse. The itching turns to scratching, clawing at you skin until it bleeds... and bleeds and bleeds.
