"We become who we're meant to be."
-Lara Croft, Rise of the Tomb Raider

One year after the events of "At Death's Edge", Christopher, Amber, and Kenterrius have taken on new adventures, new challenges, and new realizations. A new organization of bounty hunters is putting itself on the grid, and wants brutal revenge on Chris and his friends for killing their leader. To make matters worse, the Ukraine is in the middle of a war that only Chris and his friends can stop. Now, Chris and his friends must trust new allies, gain new abilities, and find a way to survive their most brutal and deadly adventure yet.

(All stories in the "At Death's Edge" series are completely fictional. Some characters are entirely based off of real people who agreed to be placed in the story timelines to their own will, but again, anything that happens in this or any future stories is completely fictitious, and I in no way intend to demean, degrade, or insult anyone.)

Matt was a track star like his brother, but everything changed following his Junior year of high school. His girlfriend Kris along with one of her friends were killed in a head on car accident involving a drunk driver. Even though Matt was in the car with them he somehow survived. After the accident nothing seems the same for Matt, and despite finishing out his senior year, his motivation to move forward is gone. Desperately in search of something new, Matt turns to a martial arts school that his best friend had recommended. Set in the beautiful beach town of Oceanside this first person narrative focuses on key experiences that Matt goes through during his first year of training. The novel takes the reader on a journey following him as he struggles with the demands of karate training, as he deals with new relationships surrounding him, and most importantly as he learns to live with the memories of the accident that while becoming more clear, still haunt and hold him back. The variety of people he meets as part of his training, some more eccentric than others, push him to try and answer the call; including the "beautiful" brown belt Cammie, who helps him try and fully face the memories of the accident. The idea is to showcase the world of hard core martial arts and integrate it into the challenges of overcoming serious trauma. It highlights how the power of being a part of a community in the fascinating world of martial arts can be surprising, challenging, yet transformative. With the advent of a series like "Cobra Kai" I believe there is interest in coming of age narratives that are set within the sometimes bizarre and mysterious world of martial arts. I personally love John Green's work and hopefully there is at least a taste of what he offers in terms of intensity and depth of character. The following "tags" I think would fit well in trying to describe the narrative : coming of age, drama, tragedy, karate, kata, fighting, romance, and recovery.

~Book 1~ ❄️not 100% like the movie. I'm gonna be adding my own reasons why Elliot and their mom aren't together. ❄️ Elizabeth (Ella) Oakley is a 15 almost 16 year old girl with a bunch of secrets. She is also Caleb's "sister". Since Bradly is an ass towards both Ella and Caleb they decided to join forces and stick together. Bradley (Brad) is 16 and also has secrets. He doesn't have friends and is kinda shy. He has a hatred in his heart towards the world and no one knows why. Caleb is 14. He is like Ella's brother. They sick up for each other and do fun things together. He loves his dad and doesn't see the wrong in most things. One day Caleb tells Ella that Bradley and him are going on a trip with their dad and that she should go. She said yes, of course. Little did she know, what started out the shooting lessons in the middle of the woods would turn into their worst nightmare. Bradley has to reveal some secrets along with Ella and he has to start using his brotherly love and instinct to survive. What happens when Ella discover the biggest secret the boys have. And her life is put on the line ___________________________________________ "I don't hate you," he says getting up," I never have!" "What do you mean. I thought- you just treat me like shit," I tell and walk up to the window "I-I'm just...forget it," he says plopping backdown on the bed "What is it," I ask walking up to him "I can't tell you," he says shaking "Why not," I sit next to him He looks at me and says, "Because. He'll hurt you." ___________________________________________ 🚨 I wrote this story YEARS ago, so it is a bit cringey. ⚠️ WARNING⚠️ : Cussing, mental and physical abuse.
