"Just Because..."

Mark and I were best friends ever since we were in preschool. Even till now, he’s still my best friend. I was like his little sister, he took care of me like a big brother although we were the same age. He was the only kid that I talked to and he was always there for me no matter what. But the whole crushing on him thing was over, he was more like a family member to me now.

Mark is a quiet guy around other people, but when we’re together by ourselves, he’s just another person. We did everything together, but the most important thing is we had each other.

I remembered this one time, he got into a fight for me in middle school. This one kid used to bully me and Mark got so mad that he asked the kid for a fight so that he could stop bullying me. Mark won because he knew martial arts, but he twisted his ankle when he was fighting. I had to ride him home with my bike. I’ve always asked him why he had to do all of these things for me, but his answer was simple, “just because…”
