Naya is an Unwanted, a person born with red eyes, marking them as a demon. Even in a world where all sorts of supernatural beings are accepted, the Unwanted population are banished from all the four kingdoms that make up the world.
Alice is the princess of one kingdom--Opheal. When the threat of war from the neighboring kingdom, Raikou, settles and lingers in the air, Alice is determined to do anything she can to protect Opheal, even if that means asking Naya for help.
Through an unanticipated turn of events, the two are thrust into the battle without any planning coming beforehand. On a journey to find safety for the once-respected princess, the two encounter friends and enemies along the way, and Alice learns more about herself than she thought would ever be possible.
However, threats follow the two of them on their travels, and they must try to stay alive and out of the clutches of another Unwanted, one who is intent on killing both Alice and Naya. With so much to run from and not even to lose, will the two give up before they can even reach their goal?
