"I let go." Matilda said, staring blank at the floor. She slowly brought her head up to see her father, sending him a sad smile. "And I don't want to grab on again."

Percy returned to his place at the table and took a whiff from his pipe. "You let go you fall." he said solemnly.

Matilda took a deep breath, as if trying to push every last ounce of pride she had remaining off her shoulders. "What would you have me do?" she asked.

Percy smiled. "Grab back on to the rope..." he said. "before it's too late."
