One day, Astrid learns that she can telekinetically move objects and she feels gifted until she and her best friend / boy friend Evan are approached in the park by a guy named Aidan, who says he is part of a society of telekinetics who protect humans from the society's enemy, another group of telekinetics who want to destroy humans. Suddenly Aidan is attacked by a member of the evil telekinetic group. He kills the assassin, and Astrid joins Aidan's society, unsure of what else to do. At their base, Astrid meets powerful people, learns battle strategies, learns how to fight with a sword, bow and arrow, and other medieval weapons, fights armies, and in the end, chooses to make the ultimate sacrifice to save humanity and her fellow telekinetics from their enemy.
