Seventeen year-old Kassandra Thompson (she likes to be called Riley- call her Kassandra and you basically have your bed made) has been silent since she was five. No one knows why, and they feel better not asking. She's always been alone, and wants it to be that way.
    
    Miles Sanders gave up on life since his mom left his family, and his younger brother disappeared. He had to save his younger sister from his drunken dad. Miles left the place that brought too many memories, and went to Rhode Island with his sister.
