Here's the thing I'm seventeen years old and I haven't found "The One" yet, and in my world that's really not good. See, in the future when a child turns eighteen they ascend. The Ascension has to be done with a teammate of sort, an equal; a soulmate.
They have to pass a series of tests, and if they don't have a partner or fail one of the seven heavenly tests, both partners don't ascend, and if you don't ascend you'll be forced to wander around the earth aimlessly for the rest of eternity.
All of my friends and family, everyone I love has ascended and it's just me and a bunch of other rejects down here so I'm going to find "The One" before I ascend which gives me about one month, because unfortunately I'm turning eighteen in one month which means I have twenty-one days to find my soulmate or die.
This is a story about how a girl and boy fall in love and blah blah blah. Not! I just want to get my wings, grab a latte, and catch up on game of thrones.
I don't need no test or boy messing up my life, but what's a girl to do?

We're about 4 years apart, he's only 10 years old and still the smartest person I know. I'm 14 years old, and starting my first year of high school. And may I just say, what a great way to start the year off by first having all the parents be abducted by aliens. Compared to the rest of our family it makes me feel stupid, but then compare me to our parents and my IQ goes from stupid to at least average. What is reality? I was John-now Charlie, a woman with a VR game tester's cunning and a professional whiskey enthusiast's attitude. But then AIs have risen, and my job evaporated faster than last night's drink. Just when I hit rock bottom, this punk kid-barely old enough to shave-dropped a bombshell: "Reality's just a simulation." Sure, buddy. I laughed it off. Until I woke up twenty years in the past. Now, thanks to a hacking mishap, I'm a regular girl in reality-with a debt and an attitude-navigating Rimelion, the VR game I once mastered, as Charlie, an elven priestess with more than a few tricks up her sleeve. Seriously though, fighting in high heels? Will I claw my way up the nobility ladder? Dominate the rankings? Outwit the government and their plans to exploit us all? Maybe. But something's off. The game feels too real. My memories don't line up, and everyone has their own version of what's true. Simulation? Reality? The lines are a blur-and I'm stuck in the middle. If I want to stop a dystopian future, I'll need allies, both in-game and out. Oh, and avoid ticking off the AIs hunting me for bending the rules. I died for some ridiculous reason and woke up in another world. In a universe where women who are not nobles are considered worthless objects, I was a peasant woman. In a universe where all witches had already been burned, I was a witch. The most beautiful curse I could find to express myself turned into praise. ✏️ This is not a literary work. It was written just for fun. 🙈 ✏️ The descriptions are weak. 🙉 I'll go back and correct the writing errors once I hit the 100th chapter. ✏️ There are parts where light novels are mocked and parodied. 🙊 ✏️ A casual language has been used. 🦋 ✏️ Oh my God, this story contains 16+ violence and includes scenes of inappropriate behavior. 🐷 ✏️ I hate advertisements. ❗️🚫🚫🚫 ✏️ The main character claims to be an atheist, but she is not; she's just a teenager on a quest for identity, swinging from one place to another.
