In the near future, the human race discovers a super-void, a super massive area of literally nothing. It appears empty and infinite. It has an entrance and no exit. As a result it is used as a galactic dumping ground for the waste products of the human race. On a routine trip to deliver toxic waste to the void, one man discovers it is not so empty after all. He gains access to an alternate reality which is familiar, but different. This is a reality in which his Mother didn't die when he was 14, and Ultravox got to number one with Vienna. Heartbreaking and funny. Oh, and Leonard Nimoy is Captain Kirk.All Rights Reserved

I haven't figured out everything for this but I've written so much for it now that I want to share it in case someone wants to read it. Prologue: Earth has found out they're not alone in the universe. An alien species have contacted Earth, giving them a chance to be protected by the aliens out there that threatens the universe. They inform them that there are in fact thousands of alien species out there. The alien race, who calls themselves Opsidians, offer Earth a chance at competing in the Games, a televised reality competition game they host. In order to win the protection, Earth will have to send a tribute to the Games. They know little to nothing about the Games or these alien species. But after consideration, they don't see the harm in sending one. And realise it might be their only chance.

They get to either join a Clan, create a new Clan or go solo. If your name is called out, you have to go down. You have no choice. Almost everyone joins a Clan or makes a new Clan. Nobody goes solo, unless you absolutely have to. Or if no Clan accepts you. Every animal on Earth wants to kill humans, they have all mutated after the Nuclear War, all the ones that survived, and are out for human flesh and blood. Bastien Water's name gets called out during the Choosing and he has to try to survive on Earth. While his family grieves thinking that Bastien won't survive but he's out to prove them wrong. Bastien meets new people, makes some friends and make some enemies. Bastien has to face many challenges to survive on Earth. Will he be able to do it? (None of this story is edited... so please bear with me... and the ending is crappy, sorry bout that)

He paid more attention to people now. Little did he know that this little difference would kill him the next time he encountered another alien about to return home. It would tear him apart, cell by cell, until he was unmade. His mind being transported away. --- So distantly far away there is a race that advanced to the point where they built dyson spheres to house their civilizations. In their continual expansion, they seeded galaxies with pods and connection satellites. Over time they upgraded their dyson spheres into matryoshka brain Cores. Imagine a computer powered by a star. Citizens of Cores no longer age once they upload their minds into the virtual living system of the Core. While they didn't age, most still choose to cycle through life and death though at a different scale of time compared to our lives. Citizens can visit other planets and live there as if they were on a "vacation". Mercury is Earth's hub connected to the closest Core and Earth is a remote vacation spot for wealthy citizens. When the main character was 10 he witnessed a citizen returning to the Core. The story continues 10 odd years later when he again witnesses a similar situation unfolding and manages to touch the person returning to the Core. This causes him to be swept up in the transfer as well and for his mind to join as a "Guest" user of the Core. As a Guest he has limited powers, a starting balance of zero cr or Citizen credits, and no idea how he can get home. He is the first human to ever become a Guest of a Core. Where money itself is the highest form of their science.

Many have jumped believing that they'll find life's answers within it. Today, we learn the truth about the hole. ~~~ Susan "Maysie" May Hornsby was a toddler when the sinkhole opened on the edge of the Missouri River, in the Tristate area (and six towns of Sioux City). It drastically changed her nation (drying up the Mississippi, slowing interstate trade to a standstill, making drinkable water a concern, forcing the nation to reroute a whole major waterway-not to mention the dumping and jumpers) but the child herself couldn't understand any of that. This made her nightmares all the more remarkable-though no one would know it, at the time. When the world ended, she was left with "the bad man" Alder Nahimana as her sole guardian. She was raised in the void of space as "the only people left alive". But there were more humans out there-and once her guardian passed, she sets out to find them, accidentally becoming crucial to the preservation of her mankind along the way. Not bad for a child whose world ended when she was 5.

Think you have it rough? Try coming home from school and finding out your father is dead, your foster sister and niece are interplanetary aliens, and so are you. So, it explains why you can change shape and talk to animals, but so can your twin brother, a feline who can fly, who you didn't know you had until he comes to take you to your birth planet so you can be heroes. Then find out that you are actually 100 years old, not 18, and the subject of an even older prophesy. Takes the "Merry" right out of Christmas break. So thinks Nikki Jessop, high school zero, who reluctantly turns into a hero of the Two Planets.
