I wouldn’t know the truth if it ran me over on a dark highway and stopped long enough to introduce itself to me, leaving all identifying information behind. I'm not proud of it, but I don't have any choice in the matter. My entire existence is a lie, a secret that has gotten people close to me killed. I live in a world where deception reigns with an iron fist and the truth ends with you in a pine box or running for your life. It's not like falling in love and being a sixteen-year-old girl are easy in their own right or anything. Whoever said you can always come home again never lived in my world and obviously never lived in a small town of any kind. My name is Mac and I'm the girl you want to stay clear of. I'm the danger your parents warn you about. And, ready or not, I'm moving back to town.

In life, we do things we regret, or that we wish we could wipe from our memory forever. At the age of 15, I didn't think I'd regret anything until I was an adult. I considered myself care free. I lived life one day at a time. Well, as much as a 15 year old can. But in life, there are also things that we can't change, that we can't forget. Circumstances change, events occur, and life as we know it is altered forever.
