Jake Spendeth is a regular fourteen year old boy with brown hair and green eyes. His life was great until his older brothers' birthday. His brother had his alarm set for 7:00 am. But what Jake woke up to was a masked figure driving away in a black van. On his brothers' nineteenth birthday Jake receives a strange letter mailed in 1845. The letter is about strange chemicals and electrical stones that could be used to make a portal that could destroy the whole world! Can Jake find who mailed this letter and who is building this portal! Who the new kid in town really is and why he feels this sense that someone is watching him? Is his brother still alive after all this time and why his dad is so secretive all of a sudden? With all these questions and no answers Jake knows what he has to do.

As they loaded the car, Mark double-checked everything, while Jess made sure nothing was forgotten. During the car ride their car broke down in the forest, Nathan wandered off and discovered a hidden village. The villagers initially appeared hostile but eventually spared his parents. While his family adapted quickly-his mother becoming a caregiver and his father earning respect as a hunter-Nathan struggled to adjust. Life in the village felt foreign, and he struggled with survival skills. Assigned a harsh mentor, Nathan faced frustration and mistreatment but showed persistence. After standing up to bullies, he earned some respect, and his mentor began to soften, though Nathan still felt like an outsider, unsure if he would ever belong, Nathan never thought what his life will be like in the next 10 years.
