When Kismet's parents suddenly go missing, Kismet searches frantically for them, finding only a note saying that she was one of the chosen fifty to be saved, meaning to purify the world- one of fifty with a destiny. Instantly, she changes the direction of her search to someone who can help her save the rest of the world, and luckily for Kismet, the person she finds is none other than last year's crush, Chase Governton. 
Chase knows more about the evil Curator's plot than he should- but the gist of it is, save fifty boys and girls with many strengths and few weaknesses, bring them to a recently-found new planet, destroy the earth, and let the fifty strong people reproduce. 
Along with loony-girl Izzy, Kismet and Chase set out to stop the Curators from carrying out their plot- but besides the impossibility factor, a strange boy, Zach, who claims to be time-trapped, carries a mysterious warning. Strangely, Kismet feels trapped in the love triangles that you only see in fantasies- she never dreamed she could feel this way.
