Found Lurking

mermaids exist.
they have been hiding from us.
hiding everywhere.
oceans, lakes, ponds, streams.
but they have been discovered
now they are being hunted, captured and up for show in zoos, given to scientists for study.
but they have not come alone.
they brought friends.
now we have to figure out the real reason they were discovered
did we find them
or did they chose to be found....

Excerpt:
Elliot drew in a deep breath. his heart raced. he closed his eyes and bent over. a gun blasted. it scared him if to death but he knew what it meant. the race had started. he took of like a feet sunk in the sand. every step was harder than the last, but he pushed forward. his playground buds were catching up to him, it he was faster. he looked back and started to get cocky. then he tripped over a crab and fell down a hill. he got up and dusted off his shorts. he looked up. he was pretty far down. So Elliot walked along the shore line. he past some rocks, then fell in shock.
