"Was I just a game to you?" Luke whispered on the verge of tears.
"No, of course not! I love you Luke!" I cried, pleading for his forgiveness.
"How can I believe you when all I was, was a bet to you?" Luke trembled.
"Luke, you must believe me, I didn't even think about the bet. I date you because I love you, not so I can beat Audrey in a stupid bet," I said grabbing his hand.
"I'm sorry Destiny, I love you so much. It just seems like loving you hurts a lot lately," He sighed looking down at our hands.
"Luke please," I sobbed shaking my head.
"I'm sorry, love you," He said for what seemed like the last time. He let go of my grip and walked away. Just. Like. That.
Voicemail, yet again.
Taking a deep breath, I start the message.
"Hey, I've called you again. This is the last one, I swear. Remember when we would chat forever and ever? We would always drink hot coffee together and talk about our pointless day. It was a daily thing, until you found someone else to occupy your time. I wasn't needed anymore, so you cast me out. I'm in our place, same spot. When you decide to meet me again, I'll be here. I won't talk to you. All that I will spare you is a small glance and some cold coffee."
Ending the voicemail, I collapse back into the chair and wait for the response that will never come.
