Jerrick Bennington-Moore is Santa Rosa's foremost PI. Only, as Kate Mayer quickly finds out, PI doesn't only stand for private investigator. Normally, for him, P stands for paranormal and it definitely explains why Moore can't hold down an assistant. But Kate has never been one to give up easily and it turns out she has a distinct knack for dealing with ghosts. They seem to like her, even more than they like Moore, but her even her enigmatic employer doesn't know why and they spirits aren't talking. Yet. However, Kate doesn't have time to worry about it, there are more important things to wonder about, such as just what Moore is up to behind her back. ********************** So folks, I am asking you to come along for the ride, even though I'm not very good at writing synopses. Also, if any of you happen to have an idea for a better looking cover it would be highly appreciated. Now go forth, read, and let me know what you think. I need some motivation to finish rewriting this beast. Cheers, KM

Victoria Maddox, Tori to those who know her, moved to the U.S. at sixteen after her father's sudden death, sent from London to live with an aunt she barely knew. Grief shaped her, but grit defined her. By twenty-one, she had joined the Navy SEALs, serving for a decade in the kind of missions no one talks about. Now thirty-six, Tori works as a full-time firefighter and still serves as a SEAL reservist. She's sharp, disciplined, and fiercely self-reliant: never one to show weakness, and never one to fall easily. David Rossi, age sixty-one, is a veteran profiler with the BAU, refined, relentless, and quietly carrying the ghosts of every case he couldn't solve. He's no stranger to pain, nor to reading people but Victoria Maddox is something else. She doesn't flinch, doesn't fold, and doesn't react the way most people do. And that only intrigues him more. When a series of targeted attacks on firefighters shakes multiple departments, the BAU is brought in to consult. Rossi meets Tori on the case and from the first moment, he's drawn to her calm under pressure and the storm she hides just beneath. She doesn't trust easily, but somehow, he gets under her skin. Slowly, she's pulled into his world of psychological profiling and emotional honesty, things she's never had the luxury to face head-on. She's used to fighting fires. But David Rossi is one she can't put out. What happens when a woman trained to survive everything meets a man who makes her want something more? {David Rossi x femoc} Warning ! Age gap !
