A group of eighteen high school students happen to get enrolled into an elite high school called
Hope's Peak Academy. Each of them arrive one by one, only to lose consciousness. They reawake to find themselves trapped inside the school. There, a sadistic remote-controlled teddy bear named Monokuma announces that the students can never leave the school unless they graduate. He explains that in order to graduate they must commit a murder and get away with it.
