Neptune, the youngest, gets paid because of her kindness. Something she starts to regret. As if their first day of school can't get any better, they get; stalked home, weird features, shot by darts, magical spells, horrifying visions, regretful mistakes, and in the end, a simple love interest but, with potential war at their knees. Moon wishing she had never caused this mess as she learns a hurtful truth. Dawn wished she should've never come back when she had a chance, yet she was a part of this. All of the sisters were. Will they live? Will they die? Will they understand curses and legends? Or will they fail and expect death.

She thinks it's only while using her big box of 64 crayons. She doesn't realize the power is in her mind's eye and not her writing implements. Jo (20) can teleport. Of course she doesn't always stick her landings. At first her landings are as messy as is her life. She's lost her mother, her family home, her faith and now thinks she may be losing her mind. Supercilious self-absorbed Amy (17) has the uncanny ability to get others to do what she wants. She says, ever so sweetly, "I'd prefer..." Dad always called it "wrapping others around her little finger syndrome." If she wanted she could ask a perfect stranger to hand over his car keys and he'd have to oblige. The oldest sister Meg (21) has dreams and visions about the world's near future. She's also very intuitive. Perhaps if she were better at seeing her own future maybe her personal life wouldn't be in shambles?
