Not thinking twice, I ran to Josh and pulled his head into my lap. Taking the silver, I began to burn the venom from his cuts as I cried. He didn't respond, not a cry or a scream, nothing. My heart ached, he was dying. His heart beat once more and then stopped. Everyone in the clearing froze, waiting for the next beat but it never came.
Everything inside me broke and I wailed out in pain. This couldn't be happening. "No." I cried as I pulled his lifeless body closer to me, "Please. You have to come back to me." Everything inside me was on fire and my chest ached worse than anything I had ever felt before, "Come back to me." I kissed his lips but no response, no need, no nothing. "You can't leave me." Desperately, I clutched him tighter to me. "Please."
But nothing came.
As a result of past trauma, Lucy, a hardworking nurse, has kept herself in a safe bubble, only letting her closest friends in. She knows she needs to shake it up and talk to new people, so when her best friend, Kiera, suggests that she sign up to have a prison pen pal, Lucy agrees.
Never did she expect to be paired with the piercing and gorgeous Braden Valencia.
What will happen when she starts to let Braden in, but he is hiding a huge secret?
Snippet:
He leans down and captures my lips into a searing kiss. He hums huskily in my ear as he pins me up roughly against his cell wall. My fingers rake the back of his orange jumpsuit, feeling the strong muscles move under the breathable fabric. He moves his lips to my neck and slowly places wet kisses in a downward motion.
"You're mine."
